Where is the event?

Beacon Hill After Dark takes place at Beacon Hill Fort, Barrack Lane, Harwich, CO12 3FR.

Where can I park?

Street parking is available on Barrack Lane, Harwich, CO12 3FR. There is then a short walk to the entrance to the event. What3Words address ///phantom.busy.amounting is the start of the footpath to our entrance.

What is the experience like?

This is a scare experience set both inside and outside the buildings of Beacon Hill Fort. Guests will follow a set route encountering themed scenes, live actors, and effects designed to create a frightening experience.

How long does the event last?

The full experience takes approximately 30 minutes, though you may spend slightly longer onsite depending on your group’s entry time.

What group size can I experience in?

Up to 8 people will be admitted at one time, larger groups will be split to ensure the best scare experience. Smaller groups may be put together.

What time should I arrive?

Your ticket will allocate you a 15-minute timeslot, please arrive within this time to ensure a smooth entry process. There may be a short wait before entering the experience. If you are late, you may need to wait until we can fit you in for the next available timeslot.

What are the age restrictions?

Participants must be aged 14 or over. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+).

Will it be scary?

Yes! Guests should expect jump scares, loud sounds, and horror themes.

Is it suitable for people with medical conditions?

If you have a heart condition, photosensitive epilepsy, severe anxiety, or other medical concerns that could be triggered by jump scares, strobe lighting, or smoke effects we do not recommend experiencing this event. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the site, this event is not suitable for those with mobility issues. All participants must be able to navigate steps, uneven terrain, confined spaces, and areas requiring crawling.

Is the event indoors or outdoors?

The experience includes both indoor and outdoor sections. Some areas involve steps, uneven ground, confined spaces and areas requiring crawling. Sensible footwear and weather-appropriate clothing is recommended.

What if it rains?

The experience will go ahead in all weather conditions, including rain, so please come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear. In the unlikely event of severe or unsafe weather (such as storms or high winds), the event may be postponed or cancelled. If this happens, we will contact ticket holders as soon as possible. Will the actors touch me?

No. Actors will not touch guests. You are not permitted to touch the actors or props, and any aggressive behaviour will result in removal from the event without refund. Beacon Hill After Dark has a zero tolerance policy to violence towards actors and staff.

Will I get messy?

There may be mud in outdoor areas and makeup/effects in use which may transfer to clothing, so dress accordingly.

What happens if I get too scared?

If you get too scared and wish to exit the experience, please alert a member of staff who will guide you to the exit of the event at the earliest opportunity. Please note that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) at all times and no refunds will be provided to those who exit the experience early.

Can I attend in fancy dress?

Simple, non-bulky costumes without face coverings or accessories are allowed. Please do not bring fake weapons or props.

Can I film or take photos inside the experience?

No filming or photography is allowed once inside the experience, to maintain the experience for all guests. Photos may be taken in the entrance area. Promotional images/videos may be taken by staff, please alert a member of the team if you do not wish to be photographed.

What if I need to cancel or move my ticket?

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Tickets may be exchanged for an alternative date/time but this is subject to availability. Ticket exchanges can be processed via your confirmation email or by contacting us directly.
